What is Mindfulness Based Art Therapy?
MBAT combines the benefits of mindfulness with the structure of art therapy. It is a way of creating something to express how you feel, or to make you realise how you truly feel.
Ways to try MBAT:
- Draw a picture of yourself
- Before and after art - create something when you feel a certain way, Maybe angry or sad. Then wait until the feeling has passed and recreate the artwork from before. Embrace the differences in what you have created.
- Use art to express your emotions. Don’t think, just create.
- Create a collage using a mix of materials.
Reduced stress and anxiety, improved mood and self-esteem, more fulfilling personal relationships, deeper insight and ways to develop compassion for yourself and others.
